Man Rescued in House Fire, Rushed to Hospital in Critical Condition

At 10:39 a. m. on August 25, 2025, Spokane firefighters responded to a report of a house fire at 804 South Sherman Street, where they faced flames engulfing a duplex. Dispatchers indicated an adult male was likely trapped inside, prompting immediate action. Firefighters confirmed fire extending from the first floor to the attic upon arrival four minutes later.

They successfully located an unconscious victim on the first floor and removed him in under four minutes. The victim was transported to Sacred Heart Medical Center, where he remains in critical condition. Fire crews controlled the fire within 20 minutes; however, the cause is still under investigation. Damages to the duplex were extensive, making it uninhabitable. Firefighters will remain on-site for several hours to extinguish any remaining hotspots.
