Spokane allocated $7. 5 million to fund nine affordable housing projects, addressing the critical need for low-income housing. The funding sources include HEART Funds and HOME Affordable Housing Development Funds, among others, aimed at increasing the affordable rental and homeownership inventory. Four new construction projects will add 95 mixed-income units, while two rehabilitation projects will preserve 50 units for extremely low-income households. Additionally, a new homeownership project will create 12 single-family townhomes, with six designated for low-income buyers.

Mayor Brown stressed the importance of these investments in promoting stability and opportunity across the community.
