Millions Awarded to Affordable Housing Projects Across Spokane

Spokane allocated $7. 5 million to fund nine affordable housing projects aimed at enhancing local housing options. The funding comes from multiple sources, including HEART Funds and HOME Development Funds, specifically targeting vulnerable populations. Among the projects, four new constructions will add 95 mixed-income units, with 63 units reserved for households earning 60% Area Median Income or less. Two rehabilitation projects will preserve 50 affordable units for families earning 50% AMI or less and create an additional 49 units for those earning 80% AMI or less.

A new homeownership initiative will lead to the construction of 12 townhomes, six of which will be sold to families earning 80% AMI or less. Mayor Brown emphasized the importance of these investments in fostering community stability and opportunity. This funding round illustrates Spokane's dedicated efforts to address the pressing demand for affordable housing. The diverse range of projects reflects a comprehensive strategy to enhance housing availability for all community members.
