Millions Awarded to Affordable Housing Projects Across Spokane

Spokane, WALocal News

Spokane has allocated $7. 5 million to support nine local affordable housing projects, funded through HEART Funds and other sources. The funding will facilitate the construction of 95 new mixed-income housing units, primarily for households earning 60% Area Median Income or less. Rehabilitation efforts will also preserve 50 units for those earning 50% AMI or less while adding 49 additional units for households earning up to 80% AMI. A new homeownership initiative will produce 12 single-family townhomes, with six designated for those earning 80% AMI or less.

Mayor Brown highlighted the importance of these funds in promoting community stability and opportunity. The projects will also aid 86 eligible vulnerable households, as outlined by the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. This funding round represents a significant investment in addressing Spokane's affordable housing crisis.
