Millions Awarded to Affordable Housing Projects Across Spokane

Spokane, WALocal News

Spokane allocated $7. 5 million to support nine affordable housing projects, enhancing the availability of low-income housing. The funding sources include $5 million from HEART Funds and nearly $1 million from HOME Affordable Housing Development Funds. Four new construction projects will yield 95 mixed-income housing units, primarily serving households earning 60% or less of the Area Median Income. Additional funds will rehabilitate 50 units for households earning 50% AMI and develop 12 single-family townhomes for those earning 80% AMI or less.

Mayor Brown stated that these investments aim to foster community stability and provide opportunities for all residents. Two projects will specifically assist vulnerable populations, serving 86 eligible households. The funding decision underscores Spokane's commitment to tackling housing challenges and ensuring affordable options are available to its residents. The diverse range of projects reflects a strategic approach to meet various community needs.
