Construction Project Will Impact W. Maxwell Starting Monday

Spokane, WALocal News

W. Maxwell Ave. will close from August 25 to September 19 for traffic signal upgrades as part of the Maxwell Pettet to Walnut Bike/Pedestrian project. This initiative enhances bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure, featuring new sidewalks, bike lanes, and improved crosswalks to better connect the West Central Neighborhood with local parks and community centers. Motorists will experience detours, with eastbound traffic on Pettet Dr.

rerouted at Belt St. and westbound traffic on W. Maxwell Ave. directed to Monroe St. or Boone Ave.

Local access will be maintained during non-working hours to minimize disruptions. Residents are urged to support businesses impacted by the construction work. The project is funded through the Washington State Pedestrian/Bike Program, the Arterial Street Fund, and the Climate Commitment Act. Current obstruction information is available on the city’s construction webpage. Enhancements aim to ensure safer travel for pedestrians and cyclists in the area.
