Millions Awarded to Affordable Housing Projects Across Spokane

Spokane allocated $7. 5 million for nine affordable housing projects, supported by multiple funding sources including HEART Funds and HOME Development Funds. Among the projects, four new constructions will provide 95 mixed-income units, with 63 for households earning 60% of Area Median Income or less. Two rehabilitation projects will maintain 50 units for those earning 50% AMI or below, while adding 49 additional units for households earning 80% AMI or less. A new homeownership initiative will create 12 single-family townhomes, with 6 designated for households earning 80% AMI or less.

Mayor Brown highlighted the goal of these funds to enhance affordable housing and promote community stability. Additionally, two projects will assist vulnerable populations, impacting 86 eligible households. This funding round reflects Spokane's ongoing commitment to addressing affordable housing needs in the region. The total funding includes allocations from HEART Funds totaling $5 million, indicating substantial municipal investment in local housing solutions.
