Mayor Lisa Brown has ordered flags at all City facilities to be flown at half-staff in memory of Spokane County Sergeant Kenneth Salas, who tragically lost his life while responding to a traffic hazard on Interstate 90. “We are deeply saddened by the loss of Sergeant Salas, who was killed while serving our community,” Mayor Brown stated. The flags will remain at half-staff through Wednesday, August 20, aligning with a memorial service planned for that day. The City encourages residents to participate in this gesture by lowering flags at their homes and businesses. A memorial service will take place at the Spokane Convention Center at 1 p.
