Millions Awarded to Affordable Housing Projects Across Spokane

Spokane, WALocal News

Spokane has committed $7. 5 million to nine affordable housing projects, utilizing a mix of funding sources including HEART Funds and HOME-ARP TBRA Funds. This initiative aims to enhance both rental and homeownership opportunities, particularly benefiting low-income households. Among the funded projects, four new constructions will yield 95 mixed-income housing units, with a focus on serving families earning 60% Area Median Income or less. Additionally, two rehabilitation projects will maintain 50 units for households earning 50% AMI or less and introduce 49 units for those earning 80% AMI or less.

A new homeownership project will offer 12 single-family townhomes, targeting families with limited income. Mayor Brown highlighted the importance of these funds in fostering community stability and opportunity. The initiative reflects Spokane's ongoing commitment to addressing affordable housing shortages and supporting vulnerable populations. By diversifying the types of projects funded, the city aims to meet the varied needs of its residents.
