Flags lowered for Spokane County sergeant killed in line of duty
Spokane Mayor Lisa Brown ordered flags at all City facilities to be lowered to half-staff in honor of Sergeant Ken Salas, who died after being struck while assisting with a traffic hazard on Interstate 90. “We are deeply saddened by the loss of Sergeant Salas, who was killed while serving our community,” Mayor Brown remarked. The City extends its deepest sympathies to Salas's family, friends, and colleagues at the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office. Flags will remain lowered through Monday, and the City encourages residents to lower their flags at home or business in solidarity. This act of remembrance underscores the risks that law enforcement officers take in their duty to protect the community.
The tragic event serves as a poignant reminder of the dangers faced by those in public safety roles. The City of Spokane is committed to honoring the sacrifices made by its law enforcement officers. Such gestures foster community solidarity and respect for the service provided by public safety officials.
