Flags Lowered for Spokane County Sergeant Kenneth Salas
Mayor Lisa Brown ordered flags at all City facilities to half-staff to honor Spokane County Sergeant Kenneth Salas, who was killed while assisting with a traffic hazard on Interstate 90. "We are deeply saddened by the loss of Sergeant Salas, who was killed while serving our community," said Mayor Brown. The City of Spokane extends its condolences to Salas's family, friends, and colleagues in the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office. Flags will remain lowered through Wednesday, and residents are encouraged to join in this recognition by lowering flags at their homes and businesses. A memorial service is scheduled for August 20 at 1 p.
m. at the Spokane Convention Center, allowing the community to gather in remembrance. This tribute highlights the risks faced by law enforcement in their duty to protect the public. The City’s actions reflect a broader commitment to honor those who serve in dangerous roles. Such memorials are vital in fostering community solidarity and respect for public safety officials.
