Millions Awarded to Affordable Housing Projects Across Spokane

Spokane has allocated $7. 5 million to support nine affordable housing projects aimed at increasing housing inventory and aiding vulnerable populations. The funding stems from multiple sources, including the 1406 Affordable Housing Development Funds and HOME-ARP TBRA Funds. Four new construction projects will yield 95 mixed-income housing units, with 63 units specifically for households earning 60% of the Area Median Income (AMI) or less. Additionally, two rehabilitation initiatives will preserve 50 units for individuals earning 50% AMI or less and create 49 new units for those earning 80% AMI or less.

A homeownership project will generate 12 single-family townhomes, with six reserved for buyers making 80% AMI or less. Mayor Brown highlighted the significance of these investments, stating they are crucial for community stability and opportunity. The funding also includes support for two projects aimed at vulnerable populations, benefiting 86 eligible households. This comprehensive approach addresses various community needs and enhances Spokane's affordable housing landscape.
