Spokane Police respond to fatal stabbing incident downtown

Spokane Police arrested Colin L Pedro, 20, on charges of 2nd Degree Murder and Assault after a stabbing incident that occurred on August 7, 2025. Officers responded to a report of a fight near the 800 block of West Spokane Falls Blvd, where one victim was found with serious injuries and another was threatening suicide on the Post Street Bridge. The Major Crimes Unit is leading the investigation, which revealed the surviving victim was in a dating relationship with Pedro and is expected to recover from their injuries. Tragically, one individual involved in the altercation died after being transported to the hospital. Authorities deployed multiple resources, including SWAT and a Hostage Negotiation Team, to manage the situation on the bridge.

The Spokane Police Department reassured the public that there is no ongoing threat to community safety. They continue to seek information from witnesses or anyone with relevant video footage. This incident underscores the department's commitment to reducing violent crime in Spokane.
