Flags lowered for Spokane County sergeant killed in line of duty
Mayor Lisa Brown ordered flags at all City facilities to be lowered to half-staff in honor of Spokane County Sergeant Ken Salas, who was tragically killed while aiding a traffic hazard on Interstate 90. “We are deeply saddened by the loss of Sergeant Salas, who was killed while serving our community,” Mayor Brown stated, emphasizing the impact of his sacrifice. The city extends heartfelt condolences to Salas's family, friends, and colleagues at the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office. Flags will remain at half-staff through Monday, allowing the community to pay tribute to Salas's service. Spokane City encourages residents to join in this act of remembrance by lowering flags at their homes and businesses.
This collective gesture aims to strengthen community ties during a time of loss. Salas had dedicated his life to public service, underscoring the risks faced by law enforcement officers. His death highlights the importance of community support for those who serve and protect.
