City Seeks Feedback For Climate Planning

Spokane, WALocal News

The City of Spokane has launched a community climate policy survey to gather input on local climate action and resilience strategies. Open until August 31, 2025, the survey encourages residents from all 29 neighborhoods to contribute their perspectives on future policies. Mayor Lisa Brown stated that community feedback is crucial in addressing climate change's widespread impacts. Earlier this year, the city collected insights from over 1,500 residents, which informed the Climate Risk and Vulnerability Assessment report. The findings from this survey will play a vital role in shaping the PlanSpokane 2046 update, guiding decisions made by city leaders and staff.

This project is funded by a state grant from Washington’s Climate Commitment Act, which supports local climate initiatives. The survey is accessible in multiple languages, including English, Spanish, and Arabic, to ensure broad participation. Engaging the community is essential for building a resilient Spokane and addressing climate hazards effectively.
