City Seeks Feedback For Climate Planning

Spokane, WALocal News

Spokane officials launched a community climate policy survey to shape future climate action, with responses accepted until August 31, 2025. The survey seeks input from residents across all 29 neighborhoods to prioritize solutions for local climate challenges. Mayor Lisa Brown stressed the importance of community feedback in building a resilient Spokane. Earlier this year, the city engaged over 1,500 residents to share their experiences with climate issues such as wildfires and extreme heat. Their insights contributed to the Climate Risk and Vulnerability Assessment, which combined lived experiences with data to identify local climate vulnerabilities.

This planning effort is funded by a state grant associated with Washington's Climate Commitment Act, which supports climate action through cap-and-invest funding. The survey is available in multiple languages, ensuring wider accessibility. Results will influence policies integrated into the PlanSpokane 2046 update, guiding future city actions.
