City Seeks Feedback For Climate Planning

Spokane, WALocal News

The City of Spokane has launched a community climate policy survey to gather input on future climate action strategies. Open until August 31, 2025, the survey aims to inform policies that will be integrated into the PlanSpokane 2046 update, shaping future city decisions. Mayor Lisa Brown stressed the importance of community feedback, seeking insights from all 29 neighborhoods to address diverse climate concerns. Earlier this year, more than 1,500 residents provided valuable input on climate challenges, such as wildfires and extreme heat, contributing to the Climate Risk and Vulnerability Assessment. This assessment combines local experiences with data to highlight climate risks facing the community.

The climate planning project receives funding from a state grant supported by Washington's Climate Commitment Act, which aims to reduce climate pollution and enhance public health. The survey is available in multiple languages, including English, Spanish, and Arabic, to ensure broad accessibility. Through this initiative, Spokane aims to build a more resilient future in response to climate change.
