City Seeks Feedback For Climate Planning

Spokane, WALocal News

The City of Spokane has launched a community climate policy survey to collect public input on local climate strategies, open until August 31, 2025. Mayor Lisa Brown underscored the importance of receiving feedback from all 29 neighborhoods to shape future climate policies. This initiative follows earlier community engagement, where over 1,500 residents shared their experiences with climate challenges such as wildfires and extreme heat. The feedback will inform updates to the PlanSpokane 2046 Comprehensive Plan, directly impacting local governance and actions. Funded by a state grant from Washington’s Climate Commitment Act, this project aims to harness community voices to build resilience against climate hazards.

The survey is available in English, Spanish, Russian, Vietnamese, Arabic, and Marshallese, ensuring accessibility for diverse populations. This comprehensive approach reflects a commitment to integrating community input into climate planning. The city aims to address identified risks and vulnerabilities while promoting sustainable practices among residents.
