City Seeks Feedback For Climate Planning

Spokane, WALocal News

Spokane's community climate policy survey aims to gather public input on climate goals and policies as part of the city's Climate Planning efforts. Available in English and five other languages, the survey will accept responses until August 31, 2025. The feedback will directly influence the PlanSpokane 2046 update, which will guide future city actions and decisions. Mayor Lisa Brown emphasized the importance of input from all 29 neighborhoods impacted by climate change. Earlier this year, the city collected insights from over 1,500 residents regarding their experiences with climate challenges.

These contributions informed the Climate Risk and Vulnerability Assessment, which integrates community perspectives with extensive data. The Climate Planning project is funded by a state grant tied to Washington's Climate Commitment Act, aimed at reducing climate pollution and enhancing public health. Information on the Climate Commitment Act is accessible on their official website.
