City Seeks Feedback For Climate Planning

Spokane, WALocal News

The City of Spokane launched a community climate policy survey to gather public input on local climate action strategies. Open until August 31, 2025, the survey aims to inform the PlanSpokane 2046 update, which will guide future decisions related to climate resilience. Mayor Lisa Brown emphasized the need for feedback from all 29 neighborhoods to understand community priorities. Earlier this year, over 1,500 residents shared their experiences with climate challenges, such as wildfires and extreme heat, contributing valuable insights to the Climate Risk and Vulnerability Assessment. This technical report combined personal narratives with extensive data to pinpoint local climate vulnerabilities.

The survey is funded by a state grant from Washington's Climate Commitment Act, which supports climate action initiatives across the state. The survey is accessible in English, Spanish, Russian, Vietnamese, Arabic, and Marshallese. Community feedback will play a crucial role in shaping Spokane's climate policies for years to come.
