Flags lowered for Spokane County sergeant killed in line of duty

Spokane, WALocal News

Spokane Mayor Lisa Brown has ordered all City facilities to lower flags to half-staff in remembrance of Sergeant Ken Salas. Salas tragically lost his life while assisting with a traffic hazard on Interstate 90. “We are deeply saddened by the loss of Sergeant Salas, who was killed while serving our community,” Mayor Brown said. The City of Spokane expresses its heartfelt condolences to Salas’s family, friends, and colleagues at the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office. Flags will remain lowered through Monday to honor his service.

The City encourages residents and businesses to join in this recognition by lowering their flags as well. Salas’s dedication to public safety highlights the risks faced by law enforcement officers. This gesture serves as a community-wide acknowledgment of the sacrifices made by those who serve.
