City Seeks Feedback For Climate Planning
The City of Spokane has launched a community climate policy survey to guide future climate policies and goals as part of its Climate Planning efforts. Open until August 31, 2025, the survey encourages residents to express their preferences for local climate policies. Mayor Lisa Brown stressed the necessity of gathering input from all 29 neighborhoods in Spokane to build a more resilient future. Earlier this year, over 1,500 community members shared their experiences with climate challenges, contributing to the Climate Risk and Vulnerability Assessment that identifies local climate risks. This assessment integrates personal narratives and extensive data to inform policy decisions.
The project receives funding from a state grant linked to Washington's Climate Commitment Act, which supports climate action initiatives. The survey is accessible in English, Spanish, Russian, Vietnamese, Arabic, and Marshallese to engage a diverse audience. Community feedback will directly influence the PlanSpokane 2046 update, shaping future actions by city officials.
