Flags lowered for Spokane County sergeant killed in line of duty

Mayor Lisa Brown ordered flags at all City facilities to be lowered to half-staff in remembrance of Spokane County Sergeant Ken Salas, who died while helping with a traffic hazard on Interstate 90. "We are deeply saddened by the loss of Sergeant Salas, who was killed while serving our community," Brown stated. The City of Spokane extends its condolences to Salas's family, friends, and colleagues at the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office. Flags will remain at half-staff through Monday, allowing the community to reflect on the sacrifice made by law enforcement officers. The City encourages residents and businesses to join in this gesture of respect by lowering their flags as well.
