Spokane Mayor Lisa Brown ordered flags at all City facilities to be lowered to half-staff in memory of Sergeant Ken Salas, who tragically lost his life while assisting with a traffic hazard on Interstate 90. "We are deeply saddened by the loss of Sergeant Salas, who was killed while serving our community," Mayor Brown said. The City of Spokane extends its deepest sympathies to his family, friends, and colleagues with the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office. Residents are encouraged to lower flags at their homes and businesses as a sign of respect. Flags will remain at half-staff through Monday, allowing the community to collectively mourn Salas's passing.
