Spokane police apprehended 20-year-old Colin L. Pedro on charges of 2nd Degree Assault and 2nd Degree Murder following a stabbing incident on August 7, 2025. Officers arrived at the scene near the 800 block of West Spokane Falls Blvd to find one victim with serious injuries and another threatening suicide on a nearby bridge. The deceased victim was pronounced dead after being transported to a local hospital, while the other victim, who had a dating relationship with Pedro, is expected to recover. After nearly four hours of negotiations, police detained Pedro without further incident.

The Major Crimes Unit has launched an investigation and is seeking additional witnesses or video evidence of the altercation. This incident highlights ongoing concerns about violent crime in Spokane, prompting the police department to reaffirm its commitment to community safety.
