City Seeks Feedback For Climate Planning

Spokane, WALocal News

Spokane initiated a community climate policy survey to collect insights on future climate action strategies, open until August 31, 2025. The survey, available in English, Spanish, Russian, Vietnamese, Arabic, and Marshallese, encourages participation from all 29 neighborhoods. Mayor Lisa Brown emphasized the need for community input to prioritize actions addressing climate change's impacts. Earlier this year, over 1,500 residents shared their experiences with climate challenges, contributing to the Climate Risk and Vulnerability Assessment. Results from this survey will influence policies integrated into the PlanSpokane 2046 update, guiding city decisions and actions.

The project, funded by a state grant, aligns with Washington’s Climate Commitment Act, which aims to mitigate climate pollution and enhance public health. Community engagement is crucial for building a resilient Spokane. The city aims to implement effective policies based on diverse community feedback.
