City Seeks Feedback For Climate Planning

Spokane, WALocal News

Spokane officials launched a climate policy survey to gather community feedback on future climate action strategies. Open until August 31, 2025, the survey is designed to influence policies integrated into the PlanSpokane 2046 Comprehensive Plan update. Mayor Lisa Brown emphasized the importance of input from all 29 neighborhoods to effectively tackle climate change. Earlier this year, over 1,500 residents shared their experiences related to climate risks, contributing to the Climate Risk and Vulnerability Assessment. This assessment combined local perspectives with extensive data to identify specific climate vulnerabilities in the area.

The City of Spokane Climate Planning project is funded by a state grant from Washington’s Climate Commitment Act, which supports efforts to reduce climate pollution and improve public health. The survey is available in English, Spanish, Russian, Vietnamese, Arabic, and Marshallese to ensure broad community participation. Engaging residents in this process is vital for fostering a resilient Spokane.
