One killed, another injured in downtown Spokane stabbing

Spokane Police arrested 20-year-old Colin L. Pedro for 2nd Degree Murder and multiple assault charges following a stabbing incident on August 7, 2025, in downtown Spokane. Officers quickly responded to a report of a fight near the 800 block of Spokane Falls Blvd, where they discovered a man on the Post Street Bridge in distress and another individual nearby with serious injuries. The Major Crimes Unit is currently investigating the scene, and the surviving victim, who had been in a dating relationship with Pedro, is recovering in a local hospital. Police reported that one victim did not survive the attack.

After nearly four hours, officers successfully deescalated the situation on the bridge and took Pedro into custody without further incident. Authorities confirmed there is no ongoing danger to the community and are actively seeking witnesses or video evidence of the incident. This tragic event has impacted many in Spokane, prompting a renewed commitment from the police to reduce violent crime.
