City Seeks Feedback For Climate Planning
Spokane's community climate policy survey aims to gather input on future climate strategies while remaining open until August 31, 2025. The survey invites residents to express their policy preferences on climate hazards, ensuring diverse perspectives from all 29 neighborhoods. Mayor Lisa Brown emphasized the importance of community feedback, stating, "Climate change affects us all. " Earlier this year, the city engaged over 1,500 community members to share their experiences with climate challenges, which contributed to the Climate Risk and Vulnerability Assessment. This assessment integrates personal stories with data to identify local climate risks.
The City of Spokane Climate Planning project is funded by a state grant from Washington’s Climate Commitment Act, which supports climate action initiatives. The survey is accessible in multiple languages, increasing community participation. The results will directly influence the PlanSpokane 2046 update, guiding future policy decisions.
