City Seeks Feedback For Climate Planning
The City of Spokane launched a community climate policy survey to gather public input on future climate initiatives. Open until August 31, 2025, the survey seeks to understand residents' preferences for policies aimed at mitigating climate hazards. Mayor Lisa Brown emphasized the importance of community feedback, stating that climate change impacts everyone across Spokane's 29 neighborhoods. Earlier this year, more than 1,500 residents shared their experiences and views on climate challenges, contributing to the Climate Risk and Vulnerability Assessment. The assessment combined community insights with data to identify local climate risks.
Survey results will shape the PlanSpokane 2046 update, guiding future city actions. The climate planning project is funded by a state grant linked to Washington's Climate Commitment Act, which supports climate action through cap-and-invest funding. This initiative reflects Spokane's commitment to addressing climate change and enhancing community resilience.
