Mayor Brown stated that the initiative is designed for everyone, regardless of their transportation method. The legislation will enhance street projects by incorporating more walking and biking features and will also help the city save money on improvements. Councilmember Klitzke highlighted the collaborative effort in updating a policy initially passed over a decade ago, emphasizing the importance of citizen input.

Councilmember Dillon remarked that Complete Streets represent an investment in a safer, healthier Spokane. The updated ordinance positions the city to better compete for state grant funding for transportation projects.
