City Seeks Feedback For Climate Planning

Spokane, WALocal News

Spokane officials initiated a community climate policy survey to gather input on future climate strategies until August 31, 2025. Mayor Lisa Brown emphasized the importance of feedback from all 29 neighborhoods in addressing climate change. The survey results will shape the PlanSpokane 2046 update, influencing city policies and decisions. Earlier this year, over 1,500 residents shared insights on climate challenges like wildfires, contributing to the Climate Risk and Vulnerability Assessment. This technical report combined community experiences with extensive data to identify local climate risks.

The City of Spokane Climate Planning project is funded through a state grant linked to Washington's Climate Commitment Act. This act supports climate action efforts by investing in pollution reduction and public health improvements. The survey is available in English, Spanish, Russian, Vietnamese, Arabic, and Marshallese to ensure broad participation.
