Spokane Police responded to a fight on the 800 block of west Spokane Falls Blvd. on August 7, 2025, around 6:30 PM. Officers found a male on the Post Street Bridge threatening suicide and another individual with serious injuries. Tragically, one person died at a hospital, while another remains stable. The incident involved a significant emergency response, including SWAT and the Hostage Negotiation Team.

After approximately four hours, police successfully deescalated the situation and detained the male on the bridge. The Major Crimes Unit is investigating the incident, which has raised community concerns about public safety. Authorities seek video evidence from witnesses to better understand the events that transpired. This incident brings attention to ongoing issues of violence and mental health crises in urban areas.
