City Seeks Feedback For Climate Planning
Spokane has launched a community climate policy survey to gather input on climate action initiatives. The survey, available in English, Spanish, Russian, Vietnamese, Arabic, and Marshallese, will remain open until August 31, 2025. Responses will inform policies that will be integrated into the PlanSpokane 2046 periodic update. Mayor Lisa Brown stated that community feedback is crucial for understanding local priorities in climate planning. Earlier this year, over 1,500 residents provided insights into climate challenges, which informed the Climate Risk and Vulnerability Assessment report.
This assessment combined personal stories with data to identify local climate risks. The City of Spokane Climate Planning project is supported by a state grant from Washington’s Climate Commitment Act, which funds efforts to reduce climate pollution. Community participation is vital in shaping a resilient future for Spokane.
