City Seeks Feedback For Climate Planning

Spokane, WALocal News

The City of Spokane launched a community climate policy survey to gather public input on future climate action policies. Open until August 31, 2025, the survey seeks feedback from residents across all neighborhoods to inform the PlanSpokane 2046 update. Mayor Lisa Brown emphasized the importance of community voices in addressing climate change challenges. Earlier this year, over 1,500 community members shared their experiences regarding climate hazards, contributing to the Climate Risk and Vulnerability Assessment. This report integrates personal insights with extensive data to identify local climate risks.

The climate planning project receives funding from a state grant linked to Washington's Climate Commitment Act, which supports climate action initiatives. The survey is accessible in multiple languages, including Spanish, Russian, and Arabic, to ensure broad participation. Spokane aims to create resilient policies that reflect the community's priorities in the face of climate change.
