Code Enforcement Inspection Districts and Focused Compliance Efforts

Spokane, WALocal News

Spokane's Code Enforcement Team implemented updated inspection districts effective July 2025 to better address citizen complaints. The team will now align specialists with specific property types: Neighborhood and Housing Specialists will manage residential properties, while Enforcement Specialists will focus on commercial and industrial cases. Common violations in residential areas include overgrown grass, junk vehicles, and zoning issues, whereas non-residential properties often face challenges like illegal dumping and graffiti. The restructuring aims to minimize duplicated efforts and increase proactive compliance actions. This change responds to a high volume of property-related complaints from citizens.

Officials encourage residents to report issues by calling 311 or 509. 755. CITY. By streamlining case management, the city seeks to ensure a more effective enforcement strategy. The changes reflect a commitment to maintaining community standards and enhancing neighborhood quality.
