Tragic mishap on an electric scooter leads to a collision, resulting in the death of an adult male

Early on July 19, 2025, a tragic incident involving an electric scooter led to the death of a male passenger after he fell into the roadway and was struck by a semi-truck in Spokane. The accident occurred around 2:20 AM when the passenger lost his balance while riding near Division and Dalton streets. The driver of the semi-truck, who stopped to render aid, cooperated fully with law enforcement, who reported no signs of impairment. Emergency responders, including Spokane Fire, attempted life-saving measures but were unsuccessful. The investigation required closing the surrounding area for several hours.

Authorities have not yet released the name of the deceased, pending notification by the Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office. Electric scooters have become increasingly popular in urban settings, raising concerns over safety on roadways and sidewalks. This incident highlights the need for improved safety measures for electric scooter riders and pedestrians alike.
