Tragic mishap on an electric scooter leads to a collision, resulting in the death of an adult male

An electric scooter accident in Spokane led to the death of a male passenger after he fell into the roadway and was struck by a semi-truck on July 19, 2025. The incident occurred around 2:20 AM near Division and Dalton while the scooter was heading northbound. The driver of the scooter remained on the sidewalk and was unharmed. The semi-truck driver stopped and cooperated with law enforcement, with no signs of impairment detected. Emergency responders, including Spokane Fire, attempted life-saving measures, but the male died at the scene.

Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office will disclose the victim's identity at a later date. Authorities closed the area for several hours to conduct an investigation. This incident raises concerns regarding the safety of electric scooters on sidewalks and the potential risks involved in their operation.
