Tragic mishap on an electric scooter leads to a collision, resulting in the death of an adult male

A tragic accident in Spokane on July 19, 2025, resulted in the death of a male passenger who fell from an electric scooter and was struck by a semi-truck at 2:20 a. m. The scooter, operated by another male, was traveling northbound when the passenger lost his balance and fell onto the roadway, while the driver fell onto the sidewalk. Emergency personnel, including Spokane Fire, arrived and attempted life-saving measures but were unable to revive the passenger. The semi-truck driver remained on the scene and cooperated with law enforcement, who reported no signs of impairment during their investigation.

Authorities closed the area for several hours to gather evidence and assess the scene. The Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the identity of the deceased at a later time. Electric scooters have gained popularity in urban areas, raising concerns about safety regulations and rider behavior. This incident highlights the need for increased awareness and potential policy changes regarding electric scooter use on sidewalks and roadways.
