Tragic mishap on an electric scooter leads to a collision, resulting in the death of an adult male

A male passenger on an electric scooter fell into the roadway and was struck by a semi-truck in Spokane early on July 19, 2025. The incident took place around 2:20 a. m. as the scooter traveled northbound near Division and Dalton. The truck driver immediately stopped and attempted to render aid, but emergency responders were unable to save the victim, who died at the scene.

The driver of the semi displayed no signs of impairment and was cooperative with law enforcement. Spokane Fire personnel also attempted life-saving measures but were unsuccessful. The investigation led to the closure of the surrounding area for several hours. The Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the deceased's name at a later time. This incident highlights the potential dangers associated with electric scooters, especially when operated in urban environments.
