Tragic mishap on an electric scooter leads to a collision, resulting in the death of an adult male

A tragic accident unfolded in Spokane on July 19, 2025, when a male passenger fell from an electric scooter and was struck by a semi-truck while riding on the sidewalk. The incident occurred around 2:20 a. m. near Division and Dalton streets, as the scooter was heading northbound. Emergency responders, including Spokane Fire, made efforts to revive the victim, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the semi-truck remained cooperative and displayed no signs of impairment, aiding law enforcement during the investigation. Authorities closed the area for several hours to gather evidence and assess the situation. The Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the name of the deceased at a later date. This incident highlights ongoing safety concerns related to electric scooters and their use on public roadways.
