Tragic mishap on an electric scooter leads to a collision, resulting in the death of an adult male

A fatal accident involving an electric scooter occurred in Spokane at 2:20 a. m. on July 19, 2025. The rear passenger fell into the roadway and was hit by a semi-truck traveling north on Division. Despite immediate attempts at life-saving measures by both the truck driver and emergency responders, the male succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

The truck driver cooperated fully with law enforcement, and no signs of impairment were detected. The investigation prompted a temporary closure of the surrounding area. The identity of the deceased will be disclosed later by the Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office. Electric scooter usage has increased in urban areas, raising concerns about safety regulations. This incident highlights the need for better awareness and potential policy changes regarding electric scooter operation on public roadways.
