Tragic mishap on an electric scooter leads to a collision, resulting in the death of an adult male

Two males operating an electric scooter encountered a tragic accident on July 19, 2025, when one fell into the roadway and was struck by a semi-truck in Spokane. The truck driver promptly stopped and tried to assist the fallen passenger, while responding officers and Spokane Fire personnel also engaged in life-saving efforts. Unfortunately, despite their attempts, the passenger succumbed to his injuries on the scene. The driver of the semi was found to be cooperative and showed no signs of impairment, allowing law enforcement to focus on the investigation. The area surrounding the incident remained closed for several hours to gather evidence and assess the situation.

The Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the deceased's name at a later time. This incident highlights the potential dangers associated with electric scooters in urban environments. Increased awareness and safety measures may be necessary to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
