Tragic mishap on an electric scooter leads to a collision, resulting in the death of an adult male

On July 19, 2025, a tragic accident involving an electric scooter led to the death of a male passenger after he fell into the roadway and was struck by a semi-truck in Spokane. The operator of the scooter fell back onto the sidewalk during the incident. Emergency responders, including Spokane Fire, attempted life-saving measures but pronounced the male dead at the scene. The driver of the semi-truck cooperated with law enforcement and showed no signs of impairment. The area around Division and Dalton was closed for several hours for the investigation.

Spokane authorities will release the identity of the deceased male once confirmed by the Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office. This incident highlights the safety concerns surrounding electric scooters and their usage on sidewalks. Local officials may need to evaluate regulations regarding scooter operation to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
