Projects will impact traffic starting July 21

Spokane will begin various construction projects on July 21 that will significantly impact traffic for the summer. The South Freya St. project will replace over 3,000 feet of water main, necessitating the closure of the street to motorists from 13th Ave. to 21st Ave. Detours will utilize Hartson Ave.

, South Ray St. , and East 29th Ave. , while local residents will maintain access. Meanwhile, South Lincoln St. will undergo intermittent work focused on rehabilitating swale plantings, with flaggers present to manage vehicle traffic.

Motorists should anticipate potential delays and consider alternative routes like High Drive and Bernard St. Pedestrian detours will also be implemented when work obstructs sidewalks. The city urges drivers to plan ahead and support local businesses affected by the necessary work. Construction on South Freya St. is expected to be completed by late October.
