Tragic mishap on an electric scooter leads to a collision, resulting in the death of an adult male

A male passenger fell from an electric scooter and was fatally struck by a semi-truck in Spokane on July 19, 2025, at approximately 2:20 AM. The incident occurred when the scooter, carrying two males, lost balance while traveling on the sidewalk near Division and Dalton. Emergency responders, including Spokane Fire, attempted life-saving measures but pronounced the victim dead at the scene. The semi-truck driver, who remained on-site, showed no signs of impairment and cooperated fully with law enforcement. Investigators closed the area for several hours to gather evidence and assess the situation.

The Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office will provide the deceased's identity in due course. Electric scooter use in urban areas has raised safety concerns, prompting discussions about regulations. This incident highlights the need for increased awareness regarding scooter safety on sidewalks and roadways.
