Tragic mishap on an electric scooter leads to a collision, resulting in the death of an adult male

On July 19, 2025, a male passenger on an electric scooter died after being struck by a semi-truck in Spokane. The incident occurred around 2:20 a. m. when the passenger lost his balance and fell into the roadway, leading to the collision. Emergency responders from Spokane Fire arrived and attempted to save his life but were unsuccessful.

The semi-truck driver cooperated with law enforcement and displayed no signs of impairment. Investigators closed the scene for several hours to gather evidence. The Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the name of the deceased at a later date. This incident raises concerns about the safety of electric scooters on public roadways, especially in areas with heavy vehicle traffic. Local authorities may need to reevaluate regulations regarding scooter operation on sidewalks and streets to prevent future tragedies.
