Tragic mishap on an electric scooter leads to a collision, resulting in the death of an adult male

On July 19, 2025, a tragic accident occurred involving two males on an electric scooter near Division and Dalton in Spokane. The rear passenger lost his balance, falling into the roadway, where he was struck by a semi-truck traveling north. Emergency responders, including Spokane Fire, attempted life-saving measures, but the passenger died at the scene. The truck driver remained cooperative and showed no signs of impairment during the investigation. Authorities closed the area for several hours to gather evidence and assess the situation.

The incident highlights the dangers of electric scooters on public roadways, particularly when used improperly. The name of the deceased will be released at a later time by the Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office. Local officials emphasize the need for safer riding practices and awareness of traffic laws.
