Tragic mishap on an electric scooter leads to a collision, resulting in the death of an adult male

On July 19, 2025, a male passenger fell off an electric scooter and was struck by a semi-truck in Spokane, leading to his death. The incident occurred around 2:20 a. m. as the scooter traveled northbound near Division and Dalton. The scooter operator fell back onto the sidewalk, while the passenger fell into the roadway, resulting in the tragic collision.

The semi-truck driver stopped to provide aid and was cooperative with authorities, who found no signs of impairment. Emergency responders, including Spokane Fire, attempted life-saving measures but pronounced the passenger dead at the scene. The investigation led to the area being closed off for several hours. The Spokane County Medical Examiner's Office will release the deceased's identity at a later time. This incident highlights ongoing safety concerns regarding electric scooters and the need for awareness of roadway conditions.
