Tragic mishap on an electric scooter leads to a collision, resulting in the death of an adult male

A tragic incident occurred on July 19, 2025, when a male passenger fell from an electric scooter and was struck by a semi-truck in Spokane, resulting in his death at the scene. The accident took place around 2:20 AM as the scooter traveled northbound on the sidewalk near Division and Dalton. The semi-truck driver cooperated with law enforcement and exhibited no signs of impairment. Despite efforts from Spokane Fire and police officers to save him, the victim succumbed to his injuries. Authorities closed the area for several hours to conduct a thorough investigation.

The Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the victim's name later. This incident underscores concerns regarding electric scooter safety on public roadways. Local authorities are expected to review safety regulations surrounding electric scooters in light of this tragedy.
